Veneers are thin shells of porcelain that are bonded to the surface of teeth to a certain cosmetic effect. With porcelain veneers, you can dramatically improve the esthetic of your smile… and do it in just a few appointments. For this reason, veneers are sometimes referred to as “instant orthodontics.”

Porcelain veneers can transform even the most weathered smile into one that is beautifully straight and sparklingly white. Veneers are a solid choice for improving cosmetic conditions such as:
It’s amazing to think that in just two or three appointments at Shore Smiles, you can achieve the type of smile that usually requires great genes and a spotless oral healthcare regimen.
Here’s how the process works:
The consultation. The path to a great smile starts with the consultation. The Shore Smiles staff will discuss the various options and veneers styles available and their related costs. Financing is available, making this cosmetic procedure affordable for most patients.
Choose a shade. With input from the veneers specialist, you will have the option to choose the shade of your veneers. Patients that choose a full set of veneers often select a vibrant shade, while patients choosing to add veneers to just one or several teeth often choose a shade that best complements the neighboring teeth.
The first appointment. During your first veneers appointment, the dentist will shape and buff your teeth to accommodate the added thickness of the veneers. We will then take impressions of your teeth to create a mold that will be sent off to the dental fabrication laboratory. At the end of your first appointment, you will be fitted with temporary veneers.
The final fitting. During your second or third visit, the dentist will temporarily apply your porcelain veneers. At this point, you will have the option to test their appearance, fit, and level of comfort. If the veneers are comfortable and you like what you see in the mirror, the dentist will then sterilize the veneers and prepare your teeth. A high-strength dental cement will be applied to create a seamless bond between the tooth and veneer. This cement is cured and hardened using an ultraviolet light beam.
Before you run off to share your new smile with the world, Dr. Herman will provide you with instructions on how to properly care for your veneers. Regular dentist visits and practicing proper oral hygiene recommendations will help prolong the lifespan of your veneers.
Without an in-person consultation, it can be difficult to estimate the average cost of porcelain veneers. Lincroft patients can reach out to Shore Smiles to book an appointment. There are several financing options, making porcelain veneers viable for a vast majority of patients.
Like most dental restorations, veneers are not permanent and require replacement at some time. That being said, porcelain veneers are highly durable and you can expect them to last for 12 to 25 years. Proper care is an essential part of extending the longevity of your porcelain veneers. Dr. Herman would be happy to recommend a checkup schedule to extend the life of your veneers and ensure a lifetime of great oral health.
